Private sector employment in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metro area increased by 1,300, or 0.3 percent, to 458,600 over the 12 months ending June 2008. Job gains were centered in leisure and hospitality (+3,300), professional and business services (+1,000), and financial activities (+900). Losses occurred in natural resources, mining and construction (-2,100), manufacturing (-1,900) and trade, transportation and utilities (-800).
